Terms of Service

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.

By using the Service, you represent and warrant that:

• you meet the minimum age requirement;
• you have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms; and
• the information you provide to us is accurate and complete.

Seer Stone Chat is an AI-powered scripture study and question-and-answer service. The Service is designed to help users explore questions about scripture, doctrine, apologetics, and related topics. Depending on the feature and platform, the Service may provide:

• answers generated with artificial intelligence;
• references to scripture, including the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price;
• references to Light and Truth content and similar supporting materials;
• suggested questions and other discovery features; and
• access through web, iOS, and Android experiences.

SEER STONE CHAT IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH, ENDORSED BY, SPONSORED BY, OR OFFICIALLY CONNECTED TO THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS IN ANY WAY. Seer Stone Chat is an independent product of Seer Stone Chat LLC. All opinions, responses, and content provided through the Service are those of Seer Stone Chat and its AI systems, and are not official statements, teachings, or positions of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or its leaders.

The Service uses artificial intelligence, including OpenAI GPT-4, to generate responses. AI-generated responses may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, misleading, or otherwise incorrect. They may contain errors, hallucinations, or misinterpretations, including on doctrinal or scriptural topics.

You should not treat any response as an official Church statement or as a substitute for your own judgment, prayer, study, or consultation of official sources. For important doctrinal questions, please verify information with official resources, including ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

You are solely responsible for how you use the Service and any decisions you make based on its output.

We currently offer the following access levels:

Features may change over time. We may add, remove, or modify features, limits, or eligibility requirements as described in these Terms.

Some parts of the Service require an account. Accounts may be created using supported methods such as email or approved third-party sign-in providers. When you create or maintain an account, you agree to:

• provide accurate and current information;
• keep your login credentials secure;
• promptly update your information if it changes; and
• accept responsibility for activity that occurs under your account.

You may not share your account with others, impersonate another person, create an account using false information, or maintain more than one personal account unless we allow it.

We may require you to verify your email address or identity before allowing access to certain features.

Premium subscriptions are available only through purchases made on the web through seerstonechat.com. We do not currently sell subscriptions through the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Current Premium pricing is available on our pricing page.

Payments are processed by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. By purchasing Premium, you authorize Stripe and Seer Stone Chat to charge the applicable subscription fees, taxes, and any other disclosed charges using your selected payment method.

Unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase:

• subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period;
• you may cancel at any time before the next renewal date;
• if you cancel, your Premium access continues until the end of your current paid billing period; and
• your subscription will not renew after the current billing period ends.

ALL SUBSCRIPTIONS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. We do not provide refunds, credits, or partial billing adjustments for unused time, partial periods, downgrades, or cancellations, except where required by applicable law.

We may change our pricing in the future. If we increase the price of a recurring subscription, we will provide at least 30 days' advance notice before the increase takes effect.

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not:

• violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right;
• use the Service to harass, threaten, defame, abuse, exploit, or harm any person;
• submit unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, hateful, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable content;
• attempt to bypass usage limits, rate limits, access controls, or security measures;
• scrape, copy, or systematically extract content or output from the Service at scale;
• reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to discover source code, prompts, models, or underlying components of the Service, except to the extent prohibited by law;
• use bots, scripts, or automated means to access the Service in a way that burdens or disrupts it;
• impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity;
• use the Service to create or distribute malware, spam, or harmful code; or
• interfere with the operation, integrity, or security of the Service.

We may investigate violations and take any action we believe is appropriate, including removing content, limiting functionality, suspending access, or terminating accounts.

We may use automated systems, human review, or both to moderate content and enforce these Terms. We may refuse to display, process, or respond to content that we believe violates these Terms or creates legal, safety, reputational, or operational risk.

We do not guarantee that the Service will answer every question, preserve every conversation, or support every topic or point of view. We may apply filters, thresholds, limits, or other controls to maintain safety, quality, and availability.

The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, branding, logos, compilations, arrangement of content, and all related intellectual property rights, is owned by or licensed to Seer Stone Chat LLC and is protected by applicable law.

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, publicly display, publicly perform, sell, lease, sublicense, or exploit any part of the Service except as expressly permitted by us in writing.

Seer Stone Chat, our logos, and our branding are trademarks or trade dress of Seer Stone Chat LLC. You may not use them without our prior written permission.

Scripture text and third-party materials referenced through the Service may be owned by third parties or may be in the public domain. Those materials may not always reflect the most current official versions or updates. All rights in third-party materials remain with their respective owners.

You retain ownership of the questions, prompts, and other content you submit to the Service ("Your Content"). However, you grant Seer Stone Chat LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, transmit, analyze, modify, and display Your Content as needed to operate, maintain, improve, secure, and provide the Service.

You represent and warrant that:

• you own or control the rights necessary to submit Your Content;
• Your Content does not violate these Terms or any applicable law; and
• Your Content does not infringe or misappropriate any third-party rights.

The Service relies on third-party providers, including OpenAI, Supabase, Stripe, and Vercel. Your use of certain parts of the Service may also involve third-party authentication providers such as Google or Apple.

We are not responsible for the acts, omissions, content, policies, or services of third parties. Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

The Service may include links or references to third-party websites or resources, including official Church resources and outside apologetic materials. We provide those links for convenience only and do not control or endorse all third-party content.

We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We do not guarantee that the Service or any feature will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

We may release updates, bug fixes, patches, new features, or changes that alter how the Service operates. Some features may be available only on certain devices, platforms, or subscription tiers.

Any support we provide, including priority support for Premium users, is offered at our discretion unless we expressly state otherwise.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SEER STONE CHAT LLC DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, QUIET ENJOYMENT, AND THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

We do not warrant that:

• the Service will meet your requirements or expectations;
• the Service will always be available, secure, accurate, or reliable;
• any content or output will be correct, complete, or suitable for any purpose; or
• defects will be corrected.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SEER STONE CHAT LLC, ITS AFFILIATES, OWNERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, LICENSORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF:

• the total amount you paid to us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim; or
• US $0 if you have not paid us anything.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers or liability limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Seer Stone Chat LLC and its affiliates, owners, officers, employees, contractors, licensors, and service providers from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, and fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:

• Your Content;
• your use of the Service;
• your violation of these Terms; or
• your violation of any law or third-party right.

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to all or any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice, if:

• you violate these Terms;
• we believe your use creates risk for us, other users, or third parties; or
• we are required to do so by law or by one of our service providers.

You may stop using the Service at any time. You may also delete your account, if applicable, through available account settings or by contacting us.

Termination or suspension does not limit any of our other rights or remedies. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including sections relating to intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law, and dispute venue.

Before filing any formal legal proceeding, you agree to first contact us at support@seerstonechat.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. Your notice must include your name, a description of the dispute, and the specific relief you seek. We will attempt to resolve the dispute in good faith during this period.

If the dispute is not resolved within 30 days after receipt of the notice, either party may proceed as described in these Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to conflict of laws rules.

For disputes not subject to arbitration or where arbitration has been opted out of, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Utah, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of those courts.

We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe that content available through the Service infringes your copyright, you may submit a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA") to our designated agent:

Your notice must include:

1. a physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf;
2. identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed;
3. identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing and information reasonably sufficient for us to locate it;
4. your contact information, including address, telephone number, and email address;
5. a statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
6. a statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.

We may remove or disable access to material that is the subject of a valid DMCA notice. Repeat infringers may have their access to the Service terminated.

Seer Stone Chat LLC will not be liable for any delay or failure to perform any obligation under these Terms if the delay or failure results from causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, acts of war or terrorism, epidemics, pandemics, government actions or orders, power outages, internet or telecommunications failures, cyberattacks, failures of third-party service providers (including OpenAI, Supabase, Stripe, and Vercel), or any other event beyond our reasonable control.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice by reasonable means, which may include email, in-app notice, or posting an updated version through the Service.

Unless we say otherwise, changes become effective when posted. If a material change negatively affects you, we will aim to provide at least 30 days' notice before it takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of updated Terms means you accept the revised Terms.

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that provision or any other right.

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights under them without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or by operation of law.

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Seer Stone Chat LLC regarding the Service and supersede any prior or contemporaneous understandings relating to the Service.

If you access the Service through Apple's App Store, the following terms also apply:

1. Acknowledgement. These Terms are between you and Seer Stone Chat LLC only, and not with Apple. Seer Stone Chat LLC, not Apple, is solely responsible for the Service and its content.
2. Scope of License. Your license to use the iOS version of the Service is limited to a non-transferable license to use the Service on any Apple-branded products that you own or control, and as permitted by the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions and applicable usage rules. The Service may also be accessed and used by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or volume purchasing where Apple allows that.
3. Maintenance and Support. Seer Stone Chat LLC is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support for the Service. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services for the Service.
4. Warranty. To the extent any warranty cannot be effectively disclaimed under law, Seer Stone Chat LLC is solely responsible for that warranty. If the Service fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any, paid for the Service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation with respect to the Service.
5. Product Claims. Seer Stone Chat LLC, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the Service or your possession or use of the Service, including product liability claims, claims that the Service does not comply with legal or regulatory requirements, and claims under consumer protection, privacy, or similar laws.
6. Intellectual Property Claims. If a third party claims that the Service or your possession and use of the Service infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, Seer Stone Chat LLC, not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of that claim.
7. Third-Party Terms. You must comply with any applicable third-party terms when using the Service.
8. Third-Party Beneficiary. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.

If you access the Service through Google Play, the following terms also apply:

1. Google Play Relationship. These Terms are between you and Seer Stone Chat LLC only, and not with Google. Seer Stone Chat LLC, not Google, is solely responsible for the Service, its content, support, and maintenance.
2. Google Play Terms Control Where Required. Your download and use of the Android version of the Service through Google Play is also subject to Google Play's Terms of Service and the Google Play Developer Distribution Agreement as they apply to users and developers. If these Terms conflict with those terms in a way that cannot be changed, the Google Play terms will control to the extent of the conflict.
3. Support Contact. Users should contact Seer Stone Chat LLC, not Google, with questions, complaints, claims, or support requests regarding the Service at support@seerstonechat.com.
4. No Google Responsibility. Google has no responsibility or liability regarding these Terms or the Service.
5. Reinstalls and Removal. If Google Play permits re-downloads or reinstalls of the Service, those rights are governed by Google Play's terms and systems. Removing the Service from Google Play may not affect rights already granted to users under Google Play's applicable rules.
